I'm Robert. I live in Mansfield with my family. By day I run a small digital marketing agency called Two Swords Digital Solutions. By accident, I now also run a tiny referral service for two DFW contractors I personally trust.
Why I started this
A few years back, a supply line let go behind a kitchen cabinet at my house. I called someone I knew. He showed up, did good work, treated my family fairly, and the job didn't balloon into the open-ended nightmare every neighbor seems to live through after water damage.
A while later, hail did a number on the roof. Same story with a different guy — a roofer who'd done work for my parents. Written estimate, no upsell, real warranty.
Meanwhile I kept watching neighbors on Nextdoor get burned by people they found through Angi, HomeAdvisor, or door-knockers. Insurance-preferred vendors who cut corners. Storm chasers who left the state. Sketchy mitigation companies that turned $4,000 problems into $40,000 ones.
It occurred to me: I already know two guys. They'd both be happy with more work. I'd be happy to be paid a small referral fee. And — most importantly — homeowners would actually get connected to someone who treats them like a neighbor, not a lead.
The vetting
I have personally hired both contractors I refer. I've seen their work on my own house. I've watched how they handle customers. I'd refer my own mother to them — and frankly already have, in essence.
Here are my standards for staying on this site:
- Show up when they say they will.
- Write down what they're going to do and what it costs.
- Don't add scope or pad invoices.
- Honor the warranty.
- Treat my neighbors the way I'd want my parents treated.
If I get verifiable complaints, the contractor comes off the site. My name is on this. My reputation is the only thing I have to sell.
About the referral fee
I'm transparent about this on every page. When you hire one of my contractors, they pay me a referral fee out of their margin. You do not pay more because of me. The fee comes from their existing revenue, not added to your price. That arrangement is industry-normal — I just disclose it where most don't. Full disclosure here.
In my day job
Through Two Swords Digital Solutions, I build and manage websites and digital marketing for small businesses across DFW. This referral site is something I built personally to connect neighbors with the contractors I trust — it isn't a service I sell. If you happen to also need marketing help for your business, that's a different conversation.
